This won't make you into the next Angelina but it does do a great job of giving you baby smooth skin. It rolls on easily and the acid just stings like you really want to itch your face. But don't worry, it's not painful. Choosing a Peel:

Glycolic: stimulates collagen growth more effectively than any of the other peels. It's small molecule allows it to slip beneath the epidermis to reach the collagen fibers below and results in 15%-25% thickening over 12 weeks. Glycolic acid generally causes little or no visible peeling.

Lactic: works on the surface of the skin to treat tone, texture, and pigmentation. The Lactic acid molecule works to pull moisture into the cells, and exfoliate surface cells which helps to perfect the skin's surface and restore the skin's natural glow.

Glycolac: With a combination of Glycolic (25%) with Lactic (35%), it provides hydration and tone improvements of the Lactic, with the increased collagen stimulation of the glycolic. It is generally well tolerated because the lactic and glycolic work on different levels or the skin.

Salicylic: a great kertolytic which means it helps loosen the bonds between skin cells to promote exfoliating. It is the only hydroxy acid which is oil soluble which allows it to penetrate into clogged pores. It can be used more frequently than the other peels without must risk for irritation.

BHA+: Hands down the best peel for acne and oily skin. You should expect some visible flaking of the skin 2 days after using the peel. This will help with active acne blemishes as well as old acne marks, and a variety of other skin problems.

HQ+: This peel is best for pigmentation and acne scarring. Similar to our BHA+ peel, with added ingredients which to help to fade pigmentation differences and even skin tone. If you suffer from old acne marks, age spots, or melasma, this peel will be the most effective in helping you.

I purchased this peel because I wanted something that might help to fade any small freckles/sun spots developing on my face, as well as fade small wrinkles near my eyes. I am Asian, with a medium-light complexion that is already fairly wrinkle and acne-free; but I was starting to see more melanin spots on my face developing, as I didn't start using sunscreen on my face daily until age 30 (I am now 35). However, my skin does tend to be oily in the T-zone, and I would still get an occasional pimple on my forehead or under my cheekbones on a regular basis.

After using this product, I noticed that my already scarce breakouts became practically non-existent, and though some of the small freckles on my upper cheeks haven't faded much, my skin does feel and look smoother and clearer. I don't use concealer, powder, or foundation (I can't stand the look and feel of it on my skin), and only use Shiseido SPF 55 for the face on a daily basis, but this seems to be all I need to still look pretty flawless, which I attribute to some of the peel's effects. I originally only used the 35% glycolic acid peel sold by the same company, but decided to try this lactic acid/glycolic acid combination to see if it would have a different or stronger effect (it does sting/tingle more than the 35% glycolic acid peel alone). I usually use this product every 7 days, and leave the solution on for a full 10 minutes (it stings and tingles, but this doesn't bother me much; leaving it on this long doesn't cause any "hot spots" on my skin, either, but my skin is pretty resistant to a lot of environmental insults). I also notice that small blackheads and sebaceous plugs in my forehead and nose will loosen easily and can be pushed or exfoliated out more easily after using this peel.

Overall, I think this is a good maintenance peel for those who want to slow (or possibly even reverse) the subtle signs of aging, i.e. development of melanin pigmentation from sun exposure, smoothing the surface of the epidermis, possibly neutralizing fine lines, and decreasing acne. I will likely continue using this product, until I become adventurous enough to perhaps try something different and stronger (i.e. a 70% Lactic Acid peel). The price is right, too, and won't cost you the overhead you might pay for having the same type of peel done at a medi-spa.

I have combination to oily skin. And, I realize that a Glycolic Acid cream helps to prevent breakouts. I bought this night cream three weeks ago and started using it every other days. Now I am just using it once or twice a week. And it works pretty good. The cream feels a bit thicker than my preference, but it's not a problem. The good thing is that it works.

I have been researching facial peels for 2 months, yes the thought of hearing the word CHEMICAL PEEL was frightening!! If you are allergic to milk or sour milk be CAUTIOUS, check with your dermatologist first. Just saying this as I have kids who are allergic to milk etc. This is excellent for persons of African descent. I did a patch test on my inner arm and waited 48 hours and all was well. I used this on March 3rd. I have finally tried lactic acid (70%) and my skin has improved dramatically! My larges pores have shrank somewhat! Company did recommend to leave the lactic on for exactly 5 minutes. I left it on for 8 minutes accidently, next time I will use timer, it was my first time using it. I did felt a stinging as reported in the instructions included. I have also been moisturizing at night with Almond oil and I am looking for a replacement. The result? Smooth textured clear, reduced pores and radiant skin! I can't wait to complete the process, because if this is what I achieve after just one treatment, my skin should be flawless by the time I'm done!! Needless to say I'm very optimistic and very, very pleased. This is for the doctors, who told me not to purchase the chemical peels based on these reviews. I am using this on my 13 year old. I leave it on her for 7 minutes, I use the timer. I use baking soda for rinse. Her skin is clearing up.

I have used this for my adult acne and really like it!! I just wish it would come in an 8oz bottle that I could dispense myself onto a cotton pad. Great product, not only does it hastens the exfoliating of hyperpigmentation it also got rid of some of my very mild acne (random whiteheads). It dries up the skin a lot though but gives you a nice glow afterwards. I have been using chemical peels for the past 15 years. I love the way my face feels and looks after each peel. I had been loyally ordering from another company which offered wonderful products but their prices keep going up. When I found this Perfect solutions I was a little reluctant because they were a lot cheaper than my usual co. However, after using the products, wow! I am so, so, happy with the outcome. The price is great, the packaging is perfect because it is environmentally friendly (overpackaging drives me CRAZY), and I received my peels in 3 days after ordering!!!! I love this company, and I LOVE these products. By the way, if your skin is used to chemical peels (like mine), you won't get the full peel effect like the directions say you would. I started carefully with the 70% solution as whenever I get facials, my beautician would use glycolic peels which barely made my skin tingle. I have very very oily skin, and I would not recommend 70% on any other type of skin, unless you are using it on your back. My skin does not peel after 2 minutes, but it tingles and then looks very clean for the next few days. You have to follow instructions to a T, though. Make sure you rinse off for a few minutes around the nose creases.

The improvement I see after using it 3 times on my face is the softness, significantly less breakouts, less clogged pores. I use it every 5 days. It literally erased the fine lines around my eyes. I also use it on my neck and back and butt - baby-soft skin!!! I haven't had this soft of texture since I was 12.

I have had a dozen TCA peels and a couple glycolic peels. Ok, let me give the background of my skin, I have uneven skin tone and after I delivered my second boy, the skin on my neck was very dark than the rest of my body. Thanks to the pregnancy. I just wanted to try the lactic acid peel whenever I don't have to take the time off work for recovery as I had to with the TCA peels. Since I had the TCA peels done, I tried the 85% lactic acid. It is not that strong like TCA so I keep it for about 5 minutes with reapplication(layering) every 2 minutes. Even after that, my flaking is not that much. Once the peel is done, the next couple days my uneven skin tone is slightly more conspicuous but after a week or so, my skin glows.

I have given it 4 stars because after 3/4 peels since it is a lactic acid peel, it tends to make my skin oily and this time I even broke out. Next time I might try a salicylic acid peel to just take off the oil.

Background:
I have had acne problems for 11yrs, have tried many kinds of acne solutions, from creams and antibiotics to laser and light treatments...not saying none of these didn't work, but having acne as a genetic, chronic problem still causes it to come back, so I needed an ongoing solution - cheap too! And I wanted to avoid antibiotics..chronic use is unhealthy. I feel like the only thing I haven't tried is Accutane, which at one point my acne was so bad i was recommended to try it by a dermatologist, but I did not want to do it due to the various side effects. I have a friend working at an oncology dept at the hospital and they give Accutane to cancer patients! That's how strong and toxic it can be.
Anyways, back to my point...here's a great way I am dealing with my acne now. Cheap, easy, doesn't require much time at all, and safe.
First step, I use a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil, then use this glycolic acid toner product w/cotton ball dabbing over the entire face, then use thin layer of benzoyl peroxide gel, then lastly, use sunscreen (w/moisturizer) for the day and facial moisturizer at night. Benzoyl peroxide comes in 2.5%, 5%, or 10%, so use the strengths in relation to the severity of your acne. I do this twice a day, when i get up and before going to sleep. Better, cheaper, safer solution than going to the dermatologist and paying for prescriptions. My skin has much improved.

I have been using glycolic acid for years. I have always loved to be outdoors, and when I started noticing that I LOOKED like I love to be in the outdoors, I looked up ways to help my skin.

Glycolic Acid is a naturally occuring acid (like the AHAs of recent historical popularity) that helps soften squint/smile lines, helps lighten freckles and age spots, and helps reduce minor acne issues, among other things.

I mix a 4 oz bottle with a couple of drops of lavender oil. I pour a little on a cotton ball and use on my face and neck after cleansing, as well as on any skin I have recently waxed. It helps keep pores clear on the face, so it can also help keep pores clear so that ingrown hairs do not occur. It does not dry the skin out, so I've ended up saving money on facial moisturizers as well.

Having used this combo for a little over a year, I have experienced less acne (and when you use a lot of sunscreen, non-comodogenic or not, you get clogged pores!), smoother skin, almost no ingrown hairs and my laugh wrinkles are much much easier to look at.

It does take some time to see results, so don't expect a miracle in a single bottle. With a healthy diet, lots of water drinking and a faithful skin care regimen, you will be happy with what you see in a month or two. Which, in comparison to your life span, is a minute drop in the bucket.

The woman who does my facials recommended this to me because I have sensitive skin. I found this cleanser to be great because it doesn't really have any odor to it, its really lightweight, non-drying and leaves my skin feeling very soft after a cleanse. One bottle lasted me about 3 months, so they give you a lot for the money it costs. That said, I also found similar results using Purpose that you can find at a drug store for a lot less. I actually switch off between the two now, since the Purpose is really gentle, but does not have the acid, which renews the skin.

One hint: use as directed. The bottle says to put it on a dry face and then rinse off, which I've never heard before, but you can feel a little tingle when you do it that way that you can't when you apply on a wet face, so I suppose it takes off more dead skin that way.

I just started using this product about a month ago and I love it. My skin tone is more even, I don't break out as much and my face seems less oily. This cream is not greasy or heavy. I use it at night and in the morning. It does sting a little when you first put it on as the other customer mentioned, but it goes away quickly. I used Kinerase cream for about eight years, but since using this moisturizer, I will never go back. Its much more affordable and I feel it works better.

Glycolic Acid is the one ingredient that you want your facial products to have. If you have problem skin such as acne, uneven skin tone, oily skin, dry skin or wrinkles you can count on glycolic acid to fix those problems. I bought this product because glycolic acid was recommended for my skin by my skin care specialist many years ago. I have uneven skin texture, oilyness and acne. I bought some very pricey glycolic acid from her and it did work wonders but the price was way too much for me (.00 a jar!). So ever since I have been searching for something similiar and I think I have found it with the "Alpha Hydroxy" line. And who can beat that price?? When I say I searched for similiar products, I am not kidding. I have thrown out and gave away (not to mention stored away) so many products that didn't work it is crazy.

One thing you must understand is that you have got to be faithful with this stuff. Don't skimp and don't skip treatments unless you have a skin reaction. First you got to get your pores open and a simple pot of steaming water with a towel wrapped over your head should do the trick. Buy the facial wash and wash your face gently. Slather this souffle on and go to bed. You should feel some tingle and that is good because that means you got some open pores and this souffle is sinking in. If you don't feel the tingle, don't give up on this product! Keep using this every day and you should see some difference in a week or so.

I can't believe the difference in my skin in only two weeks. And the amazing part is that I could see a difference in my skin texture within the first few days. The climate here is very dry and my skin was suffering from being too dry also. This product fixed that. AMAZING! My acne along the jawline is also clearing up a little at a time. But it is going away and that is a huge relief because this product is working. The fine lines on my forehead are also slowly disappearing.

One more thing about using this product for acne. I was watching a infomercial about a new skin care line that is supposed to be better than ProActive (which I have tried and it didn't work). I wanted to see what the main ingredient was because they did not use benzoyl peroxide. I couldn't believe it when they said glycolic acid was their main ingredient. And here we are getting the same benefits with the "Alpha Hydroxy" line without having to be bothered with orders over the phone, trial memberships and pushing more products that we don't want or need.

Glycolic acid can be pricey so to be getting a jar for this price is a bargain. Don't let that cheap price fool you....this stuff works.

Use cool water to take off and then apply Eucerin Sensitive Face Lotion liberally for the next few weeks. STAY OUT OF THE SUN, WEAR A BASEBALL CAP OR YOU WILL REALLY MESS UP YOUR FACE. Don't pick at the scabs that appear usually 2-3 days later. To be honest, the downtime is about a week and for me, it's really aggravating. You look terrible at first, skin all tight, irritated, and then once it starts peeling you look worse, but after the week you should be good to go, I use a mild dermabrasion after about a week to completely shed the dead skin. HOpe this helps, but I'm certainly no doctor. Just giving my experience.

I really like PTR's gels, and this one is pretty good. I have really oily, blackhead prone skin with large pores, and the only two things I do in my regime that matter insofar as actually making a difference in the texture and clarity of my skin is exfoliation and acid gels. This is the third gel product I have used from PTR and I like that it has antioxidants in it. I apply it twice a day all over my face, even under my eyes. My only complaint about this product, all of PTR's products, is that they are unnecessarily over priced. There is no reason that this should cost nearly 50 bucks. I am trying to find a cheaper alternative at this time just bc, well, 50 bucks...

I have been using these glycolic acid pads for several years now. I am 56 years old and have actually been receiving compliments on my complexion since I have been using this product. This product improved the appearance of my skin by reducing acne scars and hyperpigmentation after just one use but my gosh is this stuff strong! I have been using another brand's 25% strength peel for a year and yet this brand's 40% was incredibly intense in comparison! My entire face peeled for five days post peel and immediately after using the peel I experienced much more than " slight redness". My skin had the texture of an aligator and was extremely red and felt as if it was burning off. So, be prepared for that if you use this product. I am planning to use it again as the results were so great but am a bit frightened to due to the extreme peeling. Overall, I recommend it but with a word of caution as this peel can be traumatizing if you expect " slight redness" and end up with a red alligator face!

I've used everything to get rid of my adult acne. My skin is combination so I have dry spots and oily spots and frequent breakouts. I'm also getting fine lines. Every anti aging cream has made me break out and every acne medication has made my wrinkles worse. I thought I was a lost cause...until i stumbled on this! Wonderful stuff. I applied the first treatment for 2 minutes, it had started to sting a bit at about the 2 minute mark so I rinsed well with cool water and the stinging stopped. Immediately my pores were tightened, NO redness what so ever. Skin looked slightly firmer after one treatment, and every single one of my blemishes had shrank. The redness on my zits was reduced also. By day two, my skin had broke out slightly again but I reapplied the peel on day 3 for another 2 minutes and the results were even better! skin is so baby smooth! acne was "zapped" immediately and fine lines were less. Didnt have another post treatment breakout after that. Every single day my skin looks better. I cant even imagine what it will do for me after the recommended 6 treatments for full results!! I'm so excited about this! After 2 treatments my old acne scars are even fading, and old blackheads that have been embedded forever suddenly "popped" out!! I cant find a single blackhead on my face. amazing! I'm recommending to all my friends. My neighbor commented on how great my face looked on day 3. I told her my secret! after 3 days I look like I did 3-5 years ago (wrinkle wise) i cant wait for the full results :) finally something for aging skin that has teenage acne! It is drying, so put on lots of a non clogging cream. I'm using a vit e cream that has no pore clogging mineral oil in it. seems to work well with the peel.

Even with Lactic acid, I've learned we women with color must proceed with extreme care. I am the exact color of Queen Latifah, flawless café au lait; I look well under my 40 years and thought I'd use a peel to maintain that edge. This TCA 20% + Jessner's peel, left on for less time than suggested by the enclosed directions, 2 minutes at most, proceeded to bubble, then frost and burn on my skin. I immediately rinsed thoroughly with cold water. Patted dry, looked in the mirror. In two small places the acid had completely lifted the top layer of skin to expose the flesh beneath--and boy did it hurt (hot spots, according to the product pamphlet). Overall, the cheeks, forehead, and chin were deeply flushed red. And my heart sank. Where there is red--the melanin has already been alarmed--the red will turn deep brown, or black. Which it proceeded to do. Over the course of TWO WEEKS the red skin flaked and fell off in scales. Beneath, it left taupe colored stains that over the THIRD week deepened to a dark chocolate--and this was without sun exposure, as I was embarrassed to show my face in public. After FOUR weeks the dark chocolate stains remained, deepened even, on my once beautiful even-toned complexion. I looked like a Halloween character. Such uneven melanin concentration would take a year to eighteen months to fade--naturally. I set to work reading all the reviews on acid peels here on Amazon. I googled acid peels and read much of the literature available, some of it advising Africans to stay away from peels altogether. I learned that LACTIC acid is the best for those of us with color. I applied a very thin layer of castor oil to the dark areas and waited a few minutes for it to sink in. Then I applied the 35% Lactic Acid peel. I left the Lactic Acid peel on for 4 minutes. It hardly burned at all, perhaps because of the castor oil. I rinsed and looked in the mirror. EUREKA!! The dark marks had lifted some. I squeezed Vitamin E from one of the capsules and dabbed it on the dark areas. I felt hope. Hope that I wouldn't have to walk around spotted for 18 months. I need only reapply the peel, very carefully in graduating stages, always with the castor oil, and afterwards apply the Vitamin E. And that's what I'm doing, twice a week. It's been two weeks since I began the Lactic Acid peel regimen, four mini-peels so far, and the stains are almost gone. I put one tiny drop of Lactic Acid peel into a gob of castor oil, mix it in the palm of my hand and apply that at bedtime. When I wake the marks are even more faded. I wash with Kinerase PhotoFacial Cleanser from Sephora; it leaves my face incredibly bright, and youthful like no other product. The other two products in the Kinerase PhotoFacial line, the night moisturizer and the day moisturizer with SPF 50 are worthless. UNT SPF 50 works better for a quarter of the price (I got mine on Ebay). I apply the UNT, then top it with Smashbox Photo Finish Primer or Avon Magix--both of which have additional SPF and make the UNT completely disappear.
