This is an excellent glycolic/lactic product, especially for older skin! It gives a smooth texture with continued use, and has effective amounts of ingredients, just look at the label and you will see the actives in it are at the top of the list, which is indicative of higher concentrations, just ask any dermatologist. The price cannot be beaten. It is a big size-8 ounces. I invite you to go to one of the big skin care companies' sites, and see what this type of high quality product will run you for the big name products in a size like this. Another effective excellent product.

I really like PTR's gels, and this one is pretty good. I have really oily, blackhead prone skin with large pores, and the only two things I do in my regime that matter insofar as actually making a difference in the texture and clarity of my skin is exfoliation and acid gels. This is the third gel product I have used from PTR and I like that it has antioxidants in it. I apply it twice a day all over my face, even under my eyes. My only complaint about this product, all of PTR's products, is that they are unnecessarily over priced. There is no reason that this should cost nearly 50 bucks. I am trying to find a cheaper alternative at this time just bc, well, 50 bucks...

I have been using these glycolic acid pads for several years now. I am 56 years old and have actually been receiving compliments on my complexion since I have been using this product. I use one pad 1-3 times a week after cleansing my face. They cause some initial stinging, but afterwards, they leave my face softer, glowing, and less dry than before. There is some information (on medline) that indicates glycolic acid stimulates cell turnover and production of new skin (a process that slows down as we age).I prefer to use skin care products that have some science behind them. I have wasted much time and money trying out unproven skin care products that do nothing but leave me with the memory of a clever marketing scam.This is a product that actually works. It is pricey for everyday use, but one container lasts me almost a year since you really don't need to use every day(in my opinion) to get results.I have very sensitive skin and cannot afford a chemical peel, so this is a good option for me.

Choosing a Peel:

Glycolic: stimulates collagen growth more effectively than any of the other peels. It's small molecule allows it to slip beneath the epidermis to reach the collagen fibers below and results in 15%-25%  thickening over 12 weeks. Glycolic acid generally causes little or no visible peeling.

Lactic: works on the surface of the skin to treat tone, texture, and pigmentation. The Lactic acid molecule works to pull moisture into the cells, and exfoliate surface cells which helps to perfect the skin's surface and restore the skin's natural glow.

Glycolac: With a combination of Glycolic (25%) with Lactic (35%), it provides hydration and tone improvements of the Lactic, with the increased collagen stimulation of the glycolic. It is generally well tolerated because the lactic and glycolic work on different levels or the skin.

Salicylic: a great kertolytic which means it helps loosen the bonds between skin cells to promote exfoliating. It is the only hydroxy acid which is oil soluble which allows it to penetrate into clogged pores. It can be used more frequently than the other peels without must risk for irritation.

BHA+: Hands down the best peel for acne and oily skin. You should expect some visible flaking of the skin 2 days after using the peel. This will help with active acne blemishes as well as old acne marks, and a variety of other skin problems.

HQ+: This peel is best for pigmentation and acne scarring. Similar to our BHA+ peel, with added ingredients which to help to fade pigmentation differences and even skin tone. If you suffer from old acne marks, age spots, or melasma, this peel will be the most effective in helping you.

This product improved the appearance of my skin by reducing acne scars and hyperpigmentation after just one use but my gosh is this stuff strong! I have been using another brand's 25% strength peel for a year and yet this brand's 40% was incredibly intense in comparison! My entire face peeled for five days post peel and immediately after using the peel I experienced much more than " slight redness". My skin had the texture of an aligator and was extremely red and felt as if it was burning off. So, be prepared for that if you use this product. I am planning to use it again as the results were so great but am a bit frightened to due to the extreme peeling. Overall, I recommend it but with a word of caution as this peel can be traumatizing if you expect " slight redness" and end up with a red alligator face!

I have had a dozen TCA peels and a couple glycolic peels. Ok, let me give the background of my skin, I have uneven skin tone and after I delivered my second boy, the skin on my neck was very dark than the rest of my body. Thanks to the pregnancy. I just wanted to try the lactic acid peel whenever I don't have to take the time off work for recovery as I had to with the TCA peels. Since I had the TCA peels done, I tried the 85% lactic acid. It is not that strong like TCA so I keep it for about 5 minutes with reapplication(layering) every 2 minutes. Even after that, my flaking is not that much. Once the peel is done, the next couple days my uneven skin tone is slightly more conspicuous but after a week or so, my skin glows.

I have given it 4 stars because after 3/4 peels since it is a lactic acid peel, it tends to make my skin oily and this time I even broke out. Next time I might try a salicylic acid peel to just take off the oil.

I've used everything to get rid of my adult acne. My skin is combination so I have dry spots and oily spots and frequent breakouts. I'm also getting fine lines. Choosing a Peel:

Glycolic: stimulates collagen growth more effectively than any of the other peels. It's small molecule allows it to slip beneath the epidermis to reach the collagen fibers below and results in 15%-25%  thickening over 12 weeks. Glycolic acid generally causes little or no visible peeling.
